04.22.08 - Troy Davis Denied New Trial We have long opposed the death penalty, as an unfair, biased, and ineffective deterrent to crime. Despite striking evidence supporting his innocence, Georgia's own Troy Davis continues to face the death penalty. Amnesty International has been working on his case, seeking a fair trial and eventual amnesty. On Monday, March 17, 2008, the Georgia Supreme Court decided 4-3 to deny a new trial for Davis, which means Georgia may soon executie an innocent man. INNOCENCE MATTERS: RALLY FOR TROY DAVIS! Please join Amnesty International for a rally to demand that the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles prevent the execution of Troy Davis. Saturday, May 17, 2008: 10:00am - 12:00pm Georgia
